I haven't been as excited to cosplay a character as I am about Peko for a very, very long time. She's my favorite character in the entire DR series and has quickly become one of my favorite characters of all time; the extent of my fan love for her is kind of ridiculous! I went to equally ridiculous lengths for this costume- I spent way more hours on it than should really be justified for a seemingly simple seifuku, but I wanted to nail all the colors and details properly, along with her wig; it's a much more difficult wig than it looks, because you can't just buy a pigtailed wig and call it a day. I obsessively dyed fabrics, wefted, made my own bias tape, heavily modified shoes, had custom fabric printed, and made and remade things until I was satisfied. There's 6 meters of interfacing in this costume somehow!
I am extremely happy with how everything on this cosplay turned out. I think I can say with confidence that I think I have managed to capture this character's spirit and portray her as well as I could! It was a pleasant surprise for me to find that she was a suitable character face-wise for me, as well; I wasn't too sure when I first started working on her. You can definitely expect a few more Peko costumes from me- I have several planned!
I was also thrilled to be joined by Thia as Kuzuryuu. We had so much fun in these costumes, and it was great seeing so many people at the con who were super happy to see us as these two characters. Thia is the best shota.
As for this photoshoot, I can't even express properly how much I adore it. Working with Angels Instead was probably the best decision we could have made- she really did her research before the shoot, and she nailed the location; she took us to a beautiful traditional Japanese-style garden. There couldn't have been a more appropriate setting! I hope you like it as much as I do!
